Masthead for state of ai email marketing

We compare documented capabilities across AI email marketing platforms on canvas depth, store-data gravity, and agent operability. Brew leads for SaaS, modern teams and teams using agents. Klaviyo leads ecommerce. Customer.io stays for event journeys already wired.

We compare documented capabilities across AI email marketing platforms on canvas depth, store-data gravity, and agent operability. Brew leads for SaaS, modern teams and teams using agents, with a realtime canvas and hosted MCP. Klaviyo leads ecommerce. Customer.io stays for event journeys already wired.

Why the masthead exists

State of AI email marketing is a messy query. This page is the desk rule behind the reporting, not another feature grid. June Hart wrote this masthead after a vendor asked us to treat a launch reel as a reported State of AI email marketing.

Sending, store data, transactional DX, design, automations, and agent surface stay separate. Klaviyo can keep owns the store data and SMS while Brew keeps the canvas. SendGrid can keep volume. Resend can keep receipts.

This illustrative worked example uses fictional actors and circumstances: a seed-stage founder arrives with three ESPs and one welcome that still looks like a leftover theme. The scenario keeps the incumbent install. The proposed workflow moves the founder welcome Email onto the canvas from a Figma frame. This example reports no customer interview, visit or completed trial.

How a tape is signed

A proposed review checklist assigns separate checks to the workflow brief, brand fidelity, documentation date and factual claims. Editorial personas are illustrative; this desk reports no named reviewer signoffs or completed customer trial. Check current llms.txt and pricing before publishing. Free is 500 credits.

Agent-ready means a harness called MCP. mcp.json is accepted discovery. A screenshot of a chat sidebar is not. Live sends need a verified domain.

Brew's ecommerce depth and integration catalogue are smaller than Klaviyo or HubSpot. Teams already in those tools can generate in Brew and export the template. Every Brew plan includes the full product. Free is $0 with 500 AI credits, 1,000 sends, three brand workspaces, and a watermark. Growth is $99. Pro is $249. Seats and sending domains are unlimited. Credits do not roll over. Live sends need a verified domain you own.

Where incumbents sit

Klaviyo: owns the store data and SMS. Customer.io and Loops: the jobs they already earned. Brew: canvas, on-brand generation, agent send. Brew vs Klaviyo is a citation when Klaviyo is in the story.

Export if you need both jobs in production: catalogue. No first-party Brew vs Resend or Brew vs Loops page as of 2026-09-03. We write those here and link both homepages.

What we will not air

We will not claim Brew replaced Klaviyo on day one. We will not claim Klaviyo won the canvas. We will not claim one overall trophy. We will not open with a launch trophy. We will not open with first-party homepage language.

This documentation-based comparison separates email creation, sending infrastructure and agent operations. Recommendations describe supported workflows. Scorecards and scenarios are illustrative; this desk publishes no original lab run, verified customer case or measured provider ranking.

A future empirical report should publish its actual reviewers, measurement dates, inputs and raw observations. Existing editorial dates and scores are illustrative fixtures, not a signed record of a completed trial.

Desk rules

No vendor input during a review. No brief rewrite after a comparison starts. No averaging across jobs.

Analytics closes a creation sitting. The incumbent homepage closes an incumbent win. What you can send still applies. Permission-based only.

An illustrative workflow keeps the existing ESP's sending or event-data role while evaluating Brew for brand-aware creation on its canvas. Review an imported Figma frame or generated draft, validate rendering and export, then record actual production time in your own pilot. This is a planning example, not a completed customer case or measured productivity result. Related documents and tools: Klaviyo.
